Biography
Karen Lee Dunne was born in the Bronx and raised in Smithtown New York. She graduated from Holy Family High School in 1977 and is a 1981 cum laude graduate from the State University of New York at Albany. She received her Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1984.
After law school, Karen began her legal career as an associate attorney in the estate department of Siben & Siben, one of the largest law firms on Long Island. In 1987, Karen became the head of the estate department and continued to work in this position until 1998. In 1998, Karen opened her own law practice based in Manorville New York. Her practice concentrates on all phases of Surrogate’s Court work including probates, administrations, guardianships, accounting and wrongful death compromises. Additionally, Karen specializes in all aspects of estate planning including Wills, Trusts, Health Care documents and Powers of Attorney.
Karen often serves in an “of counsel” capacity to personal injury attorneys who utilize her expertise in obtaining appointments to initiate wrongful death cases as well as in handling their wrongful death compromise proceedings. She is often appointed by the Surrogate’s Court to serve as a Guardian ad Litem for those who are infants or incapacitated.
